Congo, Angola authorize Chevron to explore joint oil field

Congo and Angola have signed an agreement allowing US oil firm Chevron to explore the oil field located in their joint area, Lianzi.

The oil field has a potential of 70 million barrels and is located on the border between the two countries, the Congolese Oil Ministry said in a statement issued here Monday.

Revenues from the offshore field will be shared equally between Congo and Angola.

Apart from Chevron, other operators like national oil companies of Congo and Angola, Total and Eni are also involved in the project
