Côte d’Ivoire unveils budget of 4000 billion FCFA for 2014

The Ivorian government on Wednesday proposed a budget of 4248.3 billion FCFA for 2014, which is 364.5 billion FCFA higher than the previous budget, according to a statement released here by the Council of Ministers.

It said that the budget is based on revenue from domestic sources, which account for 81 per cent of the total projected revenue.

“The government, through the draft budget, will continue efforts to consolidate public finances as well as rationalize and modernize the tax system, in accordance with the World Bank’s ‘Doing Business Index,”, the statement said.

“Expenditure is expected to take care of basic human needs, including actions aimed at consolidating social cohesion, strengthening security and pursuing socio-economic development projects and programmes,” the statement added.
