Dubai taxi service ranks third worldwide

Dubai has been ranked third worldwide immediately after Tokyo and Singapore in the field of taxi transport, on the quality of services offered by five franchise companies representing the taxi sector in the Emirate.

The five franchises include Dubai Taxi Corporation, National Taxi, Arabia Taxi, Cars Taxi, and Metro Taxi, said a statement issued by the Road & Transport Authority of the Government of Dubai.

The results were announced following a filed survey undertaken by Trip Advisor International Agency comprising 40 metropolis among the world’s busiest cities in the tourism and entertainment industry.

Eisa Abdul Rahman Al Dosari, CEO of RTA Public Transport Agency, the entity overseeing the taxi sector in Dubai Emirate, said: “All of us in the RTA, Dubai Taxi Corporation and franchise companies are entitled be proud of this global accomplishment; which has come to fruition as a result of the implementation of strategic plans, expeditious efforts and team work.”

“It is quite thrilling to see Dubai ranking ahead of established metropolitan cities that have decades of practice before Dubai in offering taxi service; which is one of the most exclusive and deluxe transit means,” he added.

“Among the key factors that qualified Dubai Taxi sector to win this superb international standing is the fabulous services on offer with multitude of features and benefits such as the speed of attending to callers intending to book taxicabs which is just as low as 30 seconds, thanks to the deployment of qualified cadres highly trained on delivering top quality services to taxi passengers in the Emirate, be it citizens, residents or tourists.

“Service portfolio also includes state-of-the-art booking means and edge-cutting technologies providing speedy, accurate and transparent services.

“The service offered by taxicabs in Dubai is diverse and capable of meeting the requirements of disabled passengers, as well as the Ladies Taxi, Hatta Taxi, Honest Hands Taxi and the Baby Seats service offered on demand,” Al Dosari concluded.

Adel Shakri, director of Transportation Systems in Public Transport Agency, said: “We provide taxi service in Dubai Emirate through a number of channels including the D8 Booking & Despatch System; which is a sophisticated smart system that divides Dubai into 180 e-zones in order to expedite the taxi booking process. Other multiple taxi booking means are also on offer such as the phone, IVR system, iPad applications, SMS service offered only from Dubai Metro stations, and the online booking service which is offered exclusively for hotels.”

“Among the strategic initiatives to be launched by the Agency by the end of next year is the upgrading of services offered to taxi users of in the Emirate of Dubai is the introduction of Nol cards and multi-uses credit cards to pay for taxi fares, thus rendering taxi transit a smooth and speedy experience,” added Shakri.

Furat Al Amri, director of Franchise and Monitoring at Public Transport Agency, said: “Dubai taxicabs are subjected to regular periodic maintenance geared to the highest standards of safety of & security, besides featuring roomy, convenient and clean interiors and cabbies are well behaved with customers.”

The taxi fleet in Dubai currently comprises 8007 vehicles which have lifted last year 154 million passengers and more than 153 million passengers till the end of November this year, and the service is anticipated to lift as much as 167 million passengers by the end of December 2012.

The Booking & Despatch Center has received more than 7 million calls in 2011 at a rate of 19 thousand calls per day.
