EIB launches 4 million-euros MicroMed programme in Tunisia

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the government of Luxembourg have launched a “MicroMed-Tunisia” programme with a budget of 4 million Euros, according to a statement from the bank here Monday.

The five-year initiative aims at promoting the development of the micro-credit sector in Tunisia through improving the regulatory environment sector, enhancing the capacity of micro-finance institutions to enable them to expand their operations and meet demands, the statement said.

The new financial programme is also expected to enhance the skills of micro-finance institutions, improve transparency in the sector and facilitate the emergence of adequate inclusive financial products, especially for young entrepreneurs, EIB added.
