EU grants 8.5b franc CFA to Niger

The European Union (EU) has earmarked 13 million euros (about 8.5 billion franc CFA) as its 2013 budgetary aid to Niger, according to a communique of the EU, received here Tuesday by PANA.

According to the communiqué, the money is in addition to the 14.4billion franc CFA (about 22 million euros) first given to Niger in July.

It said the funds would tackle poverty and enhance good governance in the country.
