EU grants Mauritania 6 million euros for transport sector

The European Union (EU) has granted Mauritania 6 million Euros to enable the African country further develop its transport sector, official sources told PANA here Wednesday.

The grant followed an agreement signed here Wednesday by the Mauritanian Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, Sidi ould Tah, and the head of the European delegation in Nouakchott, Hans-Georg Gerstenlauer, under the 10th European development Fund (FED).

The money will be used for road maintenance and the establishment of a second generation road maintenance fund.

The ministry of Transport and Equipment will be modernized and road safety enhanced under the programme.
