The European Union (EU) and the International Labour Office (ILO) have signed a pact to support development efforts in the underprivileged regions of Tunisia.

Under the agreement, a counterpart funding of 13 million dinars (US$8.6 million) will be provided, over three years, for the implementation of the first component of the Support programme to underprivileged zones (PAZD), which has a total budget of 40 million dinars (US$26.5 million).

The agreement was signed Friday in Tunis between the head of the EU delegation in Tunisia, Adrianus Koetsenruijter, and Jürgen Schwettmann, Director of the partnerships and development cooperation Department of the International Labour Office (ILO).
