A financial expert, Mrs Maissata Ndiaye Niasse, on Tuesday opened the Africa region office of the African Micro-finance Transparency (AMT) in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, with a call for the promotion of micro-finance in Africa.
Mrs Niasse, who is the Coordinator of African Micro-finance Transparency (AMT), noted that micro-finance had played a major role in Africa’s development saying its development was one of the strategies likely to help the continent boost its economy and achieve development.
She said that the aim of AMT, which groups micro-finance institutions, was to strengthen the credibility of the micro-finance sector in Africa by facilitating the dissemination of transparent and standardized financial information to them.
Mrs. Niasse said AMT, in order to facilitate access to external financing and to support growth, organized a trade fair annually for investors in micro-finance.
She said this fair included sensitization workshops for micro-finance institutions.
