Five Moroccan airports closed over bad weather

The General Management of Civil Aviation in Morocco on T uesday ordered the closure of five airports across the country because of the as h clouds from the volcanic eruption in Iceland.

The affected airports are Tangier and Tetouan (in the northern part of the count ry), Essaouira (south), Rabat and Casablanca.

According to a communiqué of the Royal Air Maroc (RAM), received by PANA here, the volcanic eruption had adversely affected the Moroccan airspace.

The airports of Tangier, Tétouan and Essaouira will be closed from 5.00 hours t o 13.00 local time, and those of Rabat and Casablanca from 8.00 to 13.00, the co m muniqué said, adding that all RAM flights to the affected airports had been can c elled.

RAM said all intending passengers whose flights were affected had been duly info rmed.
