French company gets two new oil blocks in Gabon

The Gabonese Minister of Oil, Energy and Hydraulic resources on Monday announced the signing between Perenco-Gabon and the government of an agreement on the acquisition of two new oil blocks, located off the coast of Port-Gentil.

In a statement issued in Libreville, the minister said those blocks cover an overall area of 1,284.73 square metres and their exploitation will need an investment of 32 billion CFAF.

It is about the fourth oil agreement signed in less than a month by Perenco-Gabon with the Gabonese government, sources say.

Perenco-Gabon is Gabon’s third oil producing company, after Shell-Gabon and Total-Gabon.

Gabon produces on average 230,000 barrels of oil per day.
