Fuel shortage hits Togo

Togo’s capital city of Lome and some other major cities have recently been hit by fuel shortage, PANA reported.

On Monday, many drivers were seen rushing to the filling stations, thus clogging main streets in the process.

The shortage, according to sources at the Trade ministry, is due to a disruption in the supplies by the Togolese Stocking Company (STE)

Though the government has promised to restore the supplies, the shortage has persisted, becoming more and more chronic and causing transportation costs to go up by 30%.

Also, the price of fuel in the black market has gone up from CFA F 475 to 700.
