the body of a 24-year-old man was recovered on Sunday evening in the watercourse of Borj Chakir (Tunis governorate) as his car had been swept away by torrential rains, taking the number of deaths from bad weather to 3, Civil Defence Spokesperson Moez Triaa told TAP.
Actually, the two other fatalities were reported in Thala (Kasserine governorate).
A car transporting two youths aged 20 and 27 had been swept away by water on Saturday evening in Ayoun-Homr Wadi (Boulahnech locality), Thala delegate Jaouhar Chaabani stated to TAP on Sunday.
Civil Protection units managed to rescue 8 people in El Ansarina (Manouba) and Medjez el Bab (Beja) as they were trapped in their cars following Saturday’s downpour.
These units had also managed with the support of a diving team, to clear 38 vehicles from the waterways and roads, including 4 cars blocked in the Bad Saadoun tunnel, Triaa said.
