“I Wach” will take Ennahdha to court for questionable funding

The I Watch organization intends to file a complaint against the Ennahdha Movement for questionable funding, it announced on Tuesday.

“A criminal complaint will be lodged with the prosecutor at the Tunis Court of First Instance for questionable financing under the organic law n ° 2015-26 dated August 7, 2015 relating to the fight against terrorism and money laundering “, itsays in a press release.

I Watch will also file a petition with the Court of Accounts to have the procedures provided for by the electoral law applied to Ennahdha.

The organization emphasizes that the Ennahdha Movement signed lobbying contracts before the elections of 2014 and 2019 as well as two other contracts before its 10th Congress in 2016 and before the Municipalities of 2018. These last two amount to an amount of 355,850 dollars, or one million dinars, it specifies.

I Watch recalls, in this sense, that Tunisian law, and more precisely Article 19 of Decree-Law No. 2011-87, prohibits political parties from accepting:

– direct or indirect funding, in cash or in kind, from a foreign party.

– direct or indirect funding from an unknown source.

– aid and donations from public or private legal entities, with the exception of funding charged to the state budget.

– donations and bequests from individuals whose annual amount exceeds sixty thousand (60,000) dinars per donor.
