The Board of Administration of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a US$16.9 million loan for Mauritania, an official communiqué, obtained here by PANA, indicated Thursday.
IMF said although there have been some progress, the Mauritanian economy remained vulnerable with poverty and unemployment still very high.
It said, however, that “The economic performance which Mauritania has achieved under the Extended Credit Facility (FEC) Programme for the 2012-2013 period was brought about by strong economic activity, controlled inflation and good management of the public funds.”
