Jordan Int’l Investment Conference ends deliberations

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Investment Promotion Board (IPB) Maan Nsour on Thursday said China Development Bank expressed interest in participating in the Dead Sea- Red Sea Canal Project , but unveiled no details in this regard.

Nsour, who spoke to the concluding session of Jordan Int’l Investment Conference, added the government will soon issue a range of regulations to govern non-Jordanian investments in a bid to attract foreign investment to the Kingdom.

Our top priority is to attract investment , create a resilient environment for investors and focus on investments with added value , he added, saying Jordan seeks true partners capable of executing mega-projects in the upcoming period.

The government’s measures, he affirmed, helped mitigate the adverse repercussions of the global financial meltdown on the national economy , underlining it didn’t affect the flow of investments to the country.

“Jordan is a small market, yet it successfully signed a free trade agreement with Canada and soon with Turkey, ” he pointed out.

The two- day event , which brought together leading policy-makers, investors, and int’l businessmen, discussed investment opportunities in Jordan and the role of the public and private sectors in boosting its investment environment
