The “Pan-African Project to Strengthen the Capacities of Agri-Food SMEs for a Sustainable Transition”, led by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), was launched during a workshop held on October 27–28, 2025, in Algiers, the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII) announced on Tuesday.
This pilot, large-scale Pan-African initiative, conducted jointly in three pilot countries, Tunisia, Senegal, and Algeria, aims to promote inclusive and sustainable growth in the agri-food sector in Africa through experience sharing, capacity building and establishment of inter-country synergies.
Tunisia is represented by the main institutions supporting the agri-food sector under the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy, including the APII, the project’s focal point in Tunisia, the General Directorate of the Food Industry, the Technical Center for Agri-Food (CTAA), and the Bizerte Competitiveness Cluster.
Through its active participation in this strategic project, Tunisia reaffirms its leading role in African cooperation, its commitment to sustainable agri-food value chains and its determination to strengthen the competitiveness and resilience of its SMEs in the face of current economic and climate challenges.
