Libya’s oil production rises significantly

Oil production in Libya has increased significantly to more than 1.5 million barrels per day, a Libyan interim government source said on Wednesday in Tripoli.

The source announced the beginning of the production stage for the methanol factory in the petrochemical complex of Brega, in the east of the country.

Libya, Africa’s second biggest crude oil producer, has huge reserves estimated at 46.4 billion barrels.

Oil production, which was estimated at 1.8 million barrels per day before the conflict in 2011, dropped to a mere 50,000 barels per day
