Libya has decided to issue tourism visas from its border posts to travellers who apply for them.
According to a decree of the Libyan general people’s committee (government), pub lished on its website, visa applications can directly be filled by tourists them s elves or by state authorised service providers.
Visas can also be issued by Libyan people’s offices (embassies) abroad.
Recent statistics showed more than 17,000 tourists have, in the course of the fi rst half of 2009, visited Libya, whose target for the 2008-2012 period is to rec e ive 1.5 million tourists a year.
