Mauritania to meet with partners over financial aid

The Mauritanian government has scheduled a meeti ng with its partner States for the first quarter of 2010 in Brussels, the Belgia n capital, official sources told PANA on Tuesday.

According to the sources, the Mauritanian government has set up a committee of e xperts to plan the agenda for the meeting.

The committee members, drawn from the various government departments, will be su pervised by the Prime Minister, Moulaye Ould Mohamed Laghdaf.

The meeting is aimed at raising funds from the partners for the development of M auritania.

It will also tackle the issue of terrorism and illegal migration as well as drug trafficking, the sources said.

Mauritania last held a meeting with its partners in Paris, the French capital, i n December 2007.

Since then, the country has attracted financial assistance totalling US$ 2 billi on for a number projects.
