Minister, 31 others died in plane crash in South-west Sudan

Thirty two people, including a federal minister, died in a plane crash in South-west Sudan Sunday, the Presidency said.

It said a plane carrying 26 government officials from Khartoum to celebrate Eid-El-Fitr with the local population in Taloudi crashed on a mountain overlooking the town, killing the 26 officials and the six crew on board.

Those killed included the Minister for Religious Affairs and Endowment, Ghazi Al Sadiq, as well as a number of security and popular forces generals and at least two federal political leaders.

Local officials in Taloudi said the dead were buried in the area, but the presidency said the President Omar Al Bashir will receive officials for condolences at the Republican Palace in Khartoum.
