President of the Tunisian Federation of Textile and Clothing Industry, Haithem Bouajila unveiled the Tunisian textile sector’s strategic vision for 2036, stressing that it is built around ambitious goals aimed at strengthening the industry’s role as a key pillar of the national economy and boosting its international competitiveness.
Speaking to Express FM on Monday, June 22, 2026, Bouajila said the new strategy seeks to bring about a profound transformation of the sector’s economic model by shifting from low-cost competition to a model based on added value, innovation, and specialization.
The objective is to position Tunisia as a leading Euro-Mediterranean platform for technical textiles, medical textiles, and high value-added products.
He explained that the vision is structured around three major transformations: increasing added value, enhancing specialization and strengthening the sector’s strategic positioning, enabling Tunisian companies to adapt to global economic changes and the evolving demands of international markets.
According to Bouajila, the rapid upheavals affecting the global economy have significantly reshaped markets, supply chains, and the strategies of major brands.
In this context, Tunisia has the assets needed to successfully reposition itself thanks to its geographic location, industrial expertise, and longstanding ties with European markets.
