Tunisia: 1,700 hires in automotive industry in 2026

Under the agreements signed on Tuesday in Tunis, around 1,700 job seekers will be recruited into the automotive components industry during this year, while 60,000 jobs are planned by 2030, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training Riadh Chaoued announced on Tuesday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the signing of a framework agreement with Tunisian Automotive Association and six specific agreements between several companies and the Agence nationale pour l’emploi et le travail indépendant (ANETI), the minister stated that the sector includes more than 280 industrial companies, including 140 with foreign capital.

“About 65% of these companies are fully export-oriented and provide nearly 90,000 jobs,” he said.

During the event dedicated to “training, integration and partnership in the automotive sector,” organized by the ministry in partnership with the TAA, Chaoued stressed that these partnerships aim to strengthen training programs adapted to global changes, particularly in the fields of electric and smart vehicles, while promoting the creation of decent jobs.

He recalled that the “Big Employers” program, launched in 2025 in the automotive components sector, enabled the signing of several agreements with companies to improve the employability of vocational training graduates.

The minister also announced the launch, starting from the September 2026 academic intake, of a new training specialty dedicated to electric and hybrid vehicles.

For her part, Mariem Elloumi, President of the TAA, highlighted the sector’s rapid development and growing demand for qualified labor, considering training and professional integration to be key factors of competitiveness.

The event also featured the awarding of the “Training Company” label to several firms in recognition of their contribution to skills development, internship opportunities, and support for vocational training pathways.
