Ambassador Vivianne Fock-Tave has presented her Letter of Credence to His Excellency, President Xi Jinping, in Beijing, during a ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People. Ambassador Fock Tave becomes the second Ambassador with residence in Beijing, since the opening of the Seychelles mission in May 2007 in the People’s republic of China.
The Seychelles Ambassador conveyed the warm wishes of President James Michel and the People of Seychelles and expressed appreciation for all the assistance and support from the People’s Republic of China towards the socio-economic development of Seychelles, noting the contribution towards key infrastructural projects such as housing, the Palais de la Justice, the National Assembly building, schools and hospitals.
The President expressed his admiration for the beauty of Seychelles and described Seychelles as being the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean.” Additionally, President Xi conveyed that China sees Seychelles as an equal partner and that it is an honour for the Chinese people to assist in the Socio-economic development of Seychelles. Moreover, the President informed that he is pleased with the role that Seychelles is playing on the international stage as a strong advocator of global challenges to sustainable development.
