Rwandan bank introduces online marketing platform

The Bank of Kigali (BK) in Rwanda has introduced a platform dubbed “e-payment ” which will help local traders sell their products and automatically get their payments online, a senior official of the Bank said on Tuesday in Kigali.

“Online trading is the key to success in several development sectors including tourism, where all reservations are done today on the Internet,” the Executive Director (Operations) at the Bank of Kigali, Lawson Naibo, said. It is the first in its kind in the country.

According to him, trade enterprises based in Rwanda now have at their disposal the means of extending their market outside Rwanda through their own online sales sites.

“With this new banking service, Rwandan traders will easily be in a position to establish their own websites to sell various products,” Mr. Naibo said
