Rwandan President Kagame lauds World Bank’s Ezekwesili

Rwandan president Paul Kagame has lauded Nigerian Obiageli Ezekwesili for her contribution to the development of Africa since 2007 when she became deputy chairperson of the World Bank, a statement from the Rwandan presidency said in Kigali.

The statement said president Kagame, who was visiting the US, hailed the “gains during five years of successful work of Mrs Obiageli for the World Bank and Africa in general and the various programmes aimed at alleviating poverty in Rwanda”.

He stressed that the interventions of the World Bank in Rwanda focused on programmes aimed at improving the well being of the people, as well as the strengthening of institutional capacity.

“In Rwanda, the initiatives of the World Bank focus particularly on the key sectors of Rwanda’s economy including energy, support to the private sector, as well as agriculture which 90% of the population of the small central African country rely on,” the statement said.
