The West African Development Bank (BOAD) has approved 13 projects worth 185.56 billion FCFA for some of its member-countries at the 92nd meeting of its board of directors, according to a communiqué received on Thursday by PANA in Lomé.
Among the projects approved, the road infrastructure sector gets 119 billion FCFA for seven projects. The rest of the money is for projects in the energy, environment, water, transport, hotel and poverty alleviation sectors, according to the BOAD.
The Bank indicates that the new funding brings to a little more than 3,000 billion FCFA the total amount of funding for 640 projects.
The Board of the BOAD has also examined and approved its annual report for 2013, as well as its balance sheet ending December 2013.
The West African Development Bank is a public international body with the objective of promoting the development of member-States and to attain economic integration in West Africa for the funding of priority development projects.
It covers eight countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) – Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. Its headquarters are in the Togolese capital, Lomé.
