Minister of Tourism Mohamed Moez Belhassine held talks, on Monday, with President of the German Union of Tour Operators (DRV) Norbert Fiebig and President of the Senate of Tour Operators (SETO) René-Marc Chikli, within the framework of the efforts aimed at promoting the rescheduling of Tunisia as a destination during the next season, by the international tourism operators, says a statement issued by the Tourism Department.

During these talks, the minister underlined the improvement of the sanitary situation in Tunisia, thanks to the progress of the national vaccination campaign against the COVID-19, recalling the existence of a sanitary protocol specific to the tourist sector, which ensures both the safety of Tunisians and tourists.

For his part, Fiebig, whose words are reported in the press release, has stressed the importance of Tunisia as a destination for German tourists, calling on the Tunisian side to communicate a clear and stable vision concerning the procedures of access to the Tunisian territory, following the example of the competing destinations, so as to enable the German and international tour operators and travel agencies to reschedule Tunisia.

He also announced that the DRV decided to organise the annual forum of German tour operators (Destination forum 2022) in Tozeur from May 6 to 11, with the participation of more than 100 participants between tour operators, travel agencies and journalists, with the aim of further promoting the Tunisian destination in Germany.

During the second talk, the president of SETO, spoke about the importance of the Tunisian destination which occupies an important place in the travel intentions of the French.

He also indicated that he is closely following the sanitary situation in Tunisia which is clearly improving thanks to the evolution of the number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 and the existence of a sanitary protocol for Tunisian tourism, which will allow several countries, including France, to re-establish the rhythm of tourist trips to Tunisia during the next period.

Following the example of the German official, Chikli also insisted on the importance of announcing clear and stable measures of access to the Tunisian territory, to give more visibility to tour operators and tourists regarding the Tunisian destination
