Hotels in Sousse-El Kantaoui are the preferred destination for Algerians now. Local tourism commissioner in the governorate of Sousse, Foued El Oued has reported the figure of 112,000 visitors. He told TAP his services have reported the arrival of 20,000 Algerians in the region, from early January to July 10, 2016.
Usually, the official said, Algerians converge in large numbers in Sousse in the month of August when they take their annual leave.
Mr. El Oued said they are the third nationality in terms of affluence in the region last season after the British and the Germans.
Moreover, the local tourism commissioner said the Tunisian domestic market still remains the leader in the tourism market in Sousse in terms of flow to hotels.
He said they have been visited from the beginning of this year until July 10, 2016, by about 157,291 Tunisian tourists who spent 292,937 nights, making an average of two nights per client.
