Tourist arrivals up by 7.2% end of October (MoT)

The total number of arrivals at the Tunisian borders in the first 10 months of 2021 exceeded 1 million and 940 thousand persons, up by 7.2% compared to the same period last year.

The rise was mainly due to the increase by 40% in the number of entries of Tunisians residing abroad to more than 700 thousand persons and by 30% in the number of European tourists’ arrivals to about 506 thousand persons, according to the statistics released on Thursday by the Tourism Ministry.

Besides, a positive trend in the number of overnight stays in Tunisia was reported by the Tourism Department, up by 19.3%, from 5.1 million overnight stays to nearly 6.1 million overnight stays during the period October 2020 – October 2021.

Accordingly, the tourism receipts posted an increase of 6.1% to 1.9 billion dinars, at the end of October 2021, against nearly 1.8 billion dinars, one year earlier.

In dollars, the growth stood at 8.1% to $686 million and in euros at 2.5% to €576 million, at the end of October 2021.
