Aziza Htira, CEO of the Export Promotion Centre (CEPEX) has shown optimism about the improvement of export, expecting it to increase 5% throughout the year.
She, by the way, told Africanmanager that several factors were taken into account when setting this goal, citing growth that certain sectors continues to show such as the food industry and the electrical and mechanical industries, in addition the resumption of the activity of the phosphate sector and the harvest considered promising of the dates sector for the 2015-2016 season.
On another level, the head of CEPEX noted that a 3.4% increase was recorded in export in the first six months of 2015, in comparison with the same period of the past year.
Moreover, a slight decrease of 0.4% was recorded in import until the end of June 2015.
She also said that the rate of coverage of imports by exports has edged up from 67.5% at the end of June 2014 to 70.2% during the same period of the year.
Aziza Htira also highlighted the rise of exports of the food industry sector by 119%. Add to this, the growth posted by the leather and shoes sector.
