The 4th International Information and Communication Technologies Forum, “ICTs-4-All” Forum, is being held November 24-25, in Hammamet, as part of celebrating the 4th anniversary of holding in 2005 in Tunis of the second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).
The meeting deals with several issues pertaining to stepping up partnership, investment and innovation on the European, Mediterranean and African markets through ICT.
Representatives from 50 countries, namely information and communication technologies ministers, telecommunication operators, Internet service-suppliers and heads of software and digital contents processing companies from Europe, Africa, Asia and America, are taking part in this event, as well as research consultancies and business banks.
Among them is a meeting of the Mediterranean Executive Board of Internet Federation, as well as a meeting of the Expert Group of the eighth African and European Strategic Partnership on information technologies and space organized by the African Union .
The forum will also host conference on “distance and remote education in technological and advanced science” to assist in scientific research through electronic networks and the International Center for Advanced Science and Technology of the United Nations for the development of the industry.
Inaugurating the forum, El Hadj Gley, Minister of Communication Technologies, underscored the importance of partnership and the promotion of investment in the ICT sector so as to contribute to enhance development efforts of developing countries in particular.
In an interview to “TunisiaOnlineNews, Hamdoun Toure, the International Telecommunication Union’s Secretary-General, said that in spite of the global financial crisis ICT sector is still growing in terms of investment and employability.
He added that the ICT sector witnessed a great success which had an impact on global economic recovery and the financial re-activation both in the trade and industry sectors.
