Tunisia: Afreximbank grants two lines of credit worth $ 800 million

Afreximbank has decided to make available to Tunisia two lines of credit totaling $ 800 million, equivalent to 2.4 billion dinars, CEO of the African Export-Import Bank, Afreximbank, Benedict Okey Oramah, announced on Tuesday.

This announcement was made on the sidelines of the second session of the International Conference on Financing Investment and Trade in Africa (FITA 2019) which is being held on February 5-6, 2019 in Tunis, on the initiative of the Tunisia Africa Business Council (TABC).

These two credit lines will be made available to Tunisia to support the deployment of Tunisian operators in Africa.

The first line will be worth $ 500 million to support SMEs and the second will be valued at $ 300 million to support Tunisian banks.

The CEO of Afreximbank had met on February 4 at the Carthage Palace President Béji Caid Essebsi.

After the meeting, Oramah said that the pan-African financial institution is discussing with Tunisia the opening of a regional office in Tunis that will cover the entire North African region.
