Tunisia: dinar loses over 24% of its value against US dollar (BCT)

The dollar trades for exactly 3.02 Tunisian dinars since February 1, which represents a 24.67 decline in the Tunisian dinar’s value compared to the same date last year, according to the latest statistics of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).

Indeed, the Tunisian dinar continues its depreciation against foreign currencies; actually €1 is currently trading for 3.46 Tunisian dinars, i.e. a 16.46 decline in the Tunisian dinar’s value against the euro during one year.

The Tunisian dinar has further depreciated against other currencies, including the Japanese yen (-28.21%) and the Moroccan dirham (-22.69%) compared to last year, the BCT added.

As regards, the net foreign currency assets, the BCT pointed out that it stands at 85 days of imports until February 4 against 84 days last year.
