Tunisia: Africa’s 2nd largest slaughterhouse to start production in 2016 in Mahdia

A private slaughterhouse, the second largest in Africa (the first is in Johannesburg in South Africa), will go into production in early 2016, in the delegation of Ouled Chemakh (governorate of Mahdia).

The plant will have a slaughtering capacity of approximately 24,000 calves’ head per year (about 2000 heads monthly).

The project, which will initially generate 70 job positions, will mobilize investments of 17 million dinars (MD), through participation of banks, individuals and investment companies.

Minister of Development and International Cooperation, Yassine Brahim, learnt about the progress made so far in this project as he visited the Governorate of Mahdia on Monday.
