Tunisia: agricultural investment down for fifth consecutive year in 2022

The number of agricultural investment operations reported to the APIA (Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency) is down by 2.5% in 2022, compared to 2021, to 6,499 operations, down for the fifth year in a row. There were 8,574 agricultural operations in 2018.

In terms of value, the data published by APIA indicate that these investment operations correspond to a total value of 1,315 million dinars, compared to 1,307 million a year earlier, a slight increase of 0.7%.

Compared to 2019, agricultural operations dropped 17.8% in number and 5.7% in value.

More than half of the approved operations concern the actual agricultural activity (59.4%), while fisheries (9.7%), aquaculture (6.0%), agricultural services (11.8%) and primary processing (13.1%) share the rest of the authorizations.

At regional level, the North-East and the Sahel (Centre-East) account for half (50.2%) of the approved operations.
