Tunisia: bank refinancing volume hits record 16.75 billion dinars (BCT)

The overall volume of bank refinancing with the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) reached a new record on Monday, March 4, 2019.

It amounted to 16.75 billion dinars, according to daily indicators published by the Central Bank.

The last record (16.6 billion dinars) was achieved on October 4, 2018.

At the same date of the previous year, it stood at 12.2 billion dinars, posting a growth of more than 4.5 billion dinars.

This development is due to the acceleration of the restrictive effects of the main autonomous factors of bank liquidity.

The acceleration of imports has also increased the banks’ reliance on the Central Bank for the purchase of foreign exchange to cover external liabilities of economic agents.
