Tunisia: Ben Ali’s Boeing sold to a wealthy Saudi

Tunisian official authorities have signed the final contract for the sale of the Boeing 304 used by the ousted President Ben Ali and his family to a wealthy Saudi with an amount worth EUR 105 million, equivalent to 220 million Tunisian dinars.

The aircraft had been used to transport the former president and his family, January 14, 2011 to Jeddah airport, Saudi Arabia. It was repatriated in Tunisia and parked at Tunis-Carthage airport for periodic maintenance.

The newspaper Achourouk has reported that the sale of this aircraft was marred by several setbacks to finally find a buyer in the person of a wealthy Saudi, after the green light of the Cabinet meeting two weeks ago.

The sales contract was signed on Friday between the buyer and the legal representative of Tunisair. The unit will be delivered to its new owner in the next few days at Jeddah airport.
