Tunisia: Chinese group GRITSIL explores investment opportunities

As part of its international expansion strategy, GRITSIL, a Chinese company specializing in silicone components for the e-mobility sector and advanced battery solutions, is interested in the Tunisian market.

A delegation from the group, accompanied by representatives from the Tunisian Automotive Association (TAA), was received by the Tunisia Investment Authority (TIA) in Tunis to explore the group’s investment opportunities in Tunisia.

According to a press release published by TIA on  Monday, December 1, GRITSIL stands out as an innovative player, recognized for its cutting-edge technologies in the silicone field and its commitment to the global transition towards sustainable mobility.

“As part of its international expansion, the company is actively accelerating its nearshoring strategy, in order to get closer to its customers while strengthening the resilience of its global supply chain,” the statement emphasizes.

Specializing in the manufacture of silicone components, notably for wiring harnesses, electric mobility applications, and battery systems, GRITSIL positions itself not as a simple subcontractor, but as a complete technological player, with a solid industrial base and clearly stated ambitions.

Founded in China, the company is headquartered in Changzhou, Jiangsu province. It promotes an “R&D + production + commercialization” model, implemented through technical, marketing, and management teams, along with several patents to its name, enabling it to offer specialized silicone solutions (high temperature, insulation, sealing, vibration reduction, fire protection, etc.).

Among its concrete achievements, GRITSIL has developed silicones for electric vehicle cables, heat or wear-resistant silicones, materials for insulation, shielding, and nuisance mitigation (noise, vibrations), as well as specialized coatings.

The group appears to be targeting an international presence. Its approach suggests it is exploring “nearshoring” to areas like Tunisia, to bring production closer to target markets, minimize supply chain disruptions, and reduce logistics times and costs.

For GRITSIL, this is an opportunity to expand its footprint beyond Asia, optimize its logistics chain, and establish itself in a region potentially strategic for its export ambitions.
