Tunisia: Chinese, Tunisian banks seal partnership

A Chinese delegation chaired by the CEO of the China Banking Association (CBA), Mr. Pan Guangwei, was recently received by Mr. Ahmed El Karm, President of the Tunisian Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (APTBEF).

On that occasion, the two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on several strands aimed at establishing permanent channels of communication and creating potential for collaboration.

The MoU focuses on the establishment of a communication mechanism facilitating co-operation between the two associations, the discussion around topics such as the trend of the banking industry, the sharing of banking management experiences, the problems encountered and other areas of cooperation.

In addition, the APTBEF and the CBA have agreed to establish a platform encouraging and promoting the exchange of views, the sharing of experiences on issues of common interest through forums and seminars that will be organized on a regular basis.

In addition, the MoU provides for further support for financial cooperation and joint investment projects and for promoting economic relations between the two countries.

The agreement also covers cooperation in the field of banking education and training, exchange and sharing of best practices in this area.

In addition, APTBEF and CBA will establish regular contacts so that they can inform each other of the latest achievements in banking and financial research as well as macroeconomic analyzes on the working and operating conditions of the banking sector.

For this purpose, the two associations will publish this new research in their respective professional journals.
