British airline Jet2 has announced the launch of a new direct route linking Birmingham Airport and Tunisia as part of its Summer 2027 expansion program, in a move expected to boost Tunisia’s tourism sector and strengthen travel links with the United Kingdom.
The new service will operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from May 1 to October 30, 2027, offering British holidaymakers direct access to several of Tunisia’s main tourist destinations in around three hours.
The expansion includes holiday packages through Jet2holidays, with accommodation options ranging from three- to five-star hotels à)in key Tunisian resorts including Hammamet, Yasmine Hammamet, Sousse, Port El Kantaoui, Mahdia and Skanes.
Jet2 said the new route responds to growing demand among British travelers for affordable sunshine destinations and culturally rich holiday experiences beyond traditional Mediterranean markets.
The program will also promote Tunisia’s heritage and cultural tourism assets, including the UNESCO-listed medina of Sousse, Mahdia’s fishing port traditions and southern desert landscapes.
For Tunisia, the route is expected to support tourism revenues and employment in coastal regions heavily dependent on international visitors, while reinforcing the country’s position as a competitive North African destination for the UK market.
The Tunisia connection forms part of Jet2’s broader Summer 2027 expansion at Birmingham Airport, where the airline plans to operate flights to 68 destinations, including several new routes across North Africa and Europe.
