Tunisia: CTAF reports 52% increase in suspicious transaction reports

According to the latest activity report (2023) of the Tunisian Financial Analysis Commission (CTAF), the number of suspicious transaction reports (STRs) received in 2023 was 804, compared to 529 in 2022, an increase of 51.9%.

The CTAF attributed this increase mainly to the receipt of a large number of STRs related to cases of human trafficking and migrant smuggling.

In 2023, the CTAF received 804 SARs, compared to 529 in 2022. The financial sector accounted for 525 of these SARs.

According to the CTAF’s analysis, in 2023 the reporting burden continued to fall on the banks and the National Post Office (French: ONP), which accounted for 93.28% of the total number of SARs received.
