Tunisia: Current account deficit narrows to TND 3.1 bn at end-October

The current account deficit continued to narrow, falling to 3.131 billion dinars or 1.9% of GDP at the end of October, compared with 3.836 billion dinars or 2.5% a year earlier, according to the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).

Despite a trade deficit still burdened by a high energy bill, the BCT explains that this improvement is mainly due to the good performance of the tourism sector and labor income.

Cumulative receipts from tourism amounted to TND 6,620 million by November 20, 2024, while remittances from Tunisians living abroad reached TND 7,068 million.
