Ghana develops trade, investment framework to explore Arab world

The Government of Ghana is developing a framework that wil l explore trade and investment opportunities and promote effective relationship w ith the Arab world, Mr. Mahama Ayariga, Ghanaâ?s Deputy Trade and Industry Minis ter, said Thursday.

The framework, known as the Middle East Strategy, will promote effective engagem ent with Arab countries in the areas of trade, commence, agriculture and oil and

gas management.

Ayariga announced this in Accra, Ghanaâ?s capital, at a meeting with Saudi Trad e and Investment delegation, which comprised representatives from the Saudi comm e rce and industry, minerals and agriculture sectors.

Officials from Ghanaâ?s food and agriculture and energy ministries and the priv ate sector participated in the meeting, which aimed primarily to discuss and exp l ore investment opportunities in the two countries.

He said as part of the Middle East Strategy, Ghanaian officials have visited Lib ya and would visit Egypt and other Arab countries, which knowledge and informati o n gathered were helping to enhance the framework.

According to him, another important opportunity would be Ghanaâ?s participation in the upcoming PAN IIM Alumni Gulf Summit, to be held 30 October in Dubai.

The annual summit, which started in 2009, will bring together IIM Alumni, who ar e corporate leaders and entrepreneurs from a cross-section of industries and soc i al sectors in India and the Middle East, to share their success experiences and l essons.

It will be held under the theme: â?The New Global Economic Paradigm – Spotlight on Indiaâ? and will seek to address the opportunities and critical challenges f acing business leaders and managers in the rapidly evolving ‘new’ economic envir o nment.

Ayariga said Ghana would learn from the corporate leaders and entrepreneurs from a cross-section of industries and social sectors in India and the Middle East a t the Summit.

The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Ghana, Mr. Sameer Mahmoud Aggad, who led the d elegation, said closer collaboration and mutual cooperation held the key to ceme n ting bilateral relations and assured Ghana of his country’s preparedness to inve s t in the country.

Aggad said: â?We are interested in investing in your country that is why all th ese people from my country with an enviable reputation are here and at the end o f the (visit) we will tell you where we can invest.â?
