Revenues from olive oil increased by almost 62% at the end of August 2024 (2023-2024 season) to 4.8 billion dinars, according to the National Olive Oil Office (ONH).
The ONH stressed that since the start of the season (1 November 2023), Tunisia has exported nearly 181,258 tons of olive oil, including 23,946 tons packaged, worth 692 million dinars (MD), an increase of 36%.
On average, the price of a ton of olive oil exported to international markets was close to 26,508 dinars, while the price of a packaged ton sold on the international market was 28,899 dinars.
During the 2022-2023 season, Tunisia exported almost 175,669 tons of olive oil worth 2.9 billion dinars, knowing that the average export price of a ton is almost 16,918 dinars.
The exported quantities of packaged olive oil, during the 2022-2023 season, are in the order of 17 thousand 559 tons, with receipts of almost 367 billion, knowing that the average export price of a ton is almost 20,890 dinars.
The food trade balance posted a surplus of 1,727.8 million dinars (MD), at the end of July 2024, according to data published on Monday by the National Agricultural Observatory (ONAGRI).
According to the Observatory, the recorded surplus is mainly due to an increase in olive oil exports (+73.5%).
