The European Union, on Tuesday, released EUR 100 million to Tunisia, said a statement from the European Union Delegation to Tunisia.
It is the second tranche of a EUR 300-million Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) program for the country. The first tranche also worth EUR 100 million was paid in May 2015.
The MFA program is part of broader efforts by the EU and international donors to help Tunisia to overcome its economic difficulties.
The MFA contributes to the realization of the economic reforms and structural adjustment program agreed by Tunisia and the IMF under the Stand-By-Arrangement (SBA).
This assistance is added to other forms of support provided by the EU to Tunisia, including more than EUR 800 million paid in the form of grants since the 2011 Revolution as well as significant loans granted by the European Investment Bank (EIB), said the same source.
