Tunisia: EU tops country’s customers

According to the latest figures from the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the European Union remains the largest customer of Tunisia, accounting for 71% of the overall exports (18,200.4 MTD) during the 11 months of 2013, up 4.9% compared to 2012.

This is due mainly to improved sales to the UK (+43.6%), Spain (+14%) and Germany (+13.1%). According to the letter of the INS, Tunisia has also achieved good sales performance to Turkey (93.1%) and Russia (32.7%).

Regarding trade with the Arab world, the INS data show an improvement in exports to Libya (6.2%) and Algeria (3.2%), while exports to Egypt declined by 16% due to lower exports of phosphate products.
