Tunisia: slight decrease in trade deficit

Tunisia’s exports grew 5.2% compared to the same period of 2012, while they increased 6.3% during the first 11 months of 2012, according to the latest figures from the National Statistics Institute (INS) on the first 11 months of 2013.

The rise of imports, including capital goods, did not exceed 3.1%, against 14% in 2012. In value terms, exports are estimated during that period at 25,459.9 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) and imports to 6,001.6 MTD, which has improved the coverage by 1.4% to 70.7%.

The trade deficit has thus recorded a slight decrease between 2012 and 2013 (11 months) from 10,703.8 MTD to 10,541.7 MTD, said the INS.
