Tunisia: expat remittances hit TND 4.3 billion in 7 months

Remittances from Tunisian expatriates reached DT 4.3 bn over 7 months at the end of July, up 4% in a year and equivalent to €1.3 bn at the current rate, according to the latest data from the Central Bank.

In addition, Tunisia’s foreign exchange reserves, which are closely monitored, totaled 23.725 bn DT, equivalent to 103 days of imports.

As for tourism receipts, they reached TND 3.8 billion in the same period, up 53% in one year and equivalent to €1.14 billion.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, Tunisia has already received more than 5 million tourists.

In total, this represents around TND 1.5 billion in additional revenues and transfers, or almost €500 million in additional foreign exchange earnings over 7 months compared to the first 7 months of 2022.
