Tunisia: foreign investments increase 41% (FIPA)

The flow of foreign investments has increased 41% until end August 2015 to 1,622.6 million Tunisian dinars (MTD), boosted by FDI in the energy sector (710 MTD), according to the latest statistics published by the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA).

Foreign investment recorded between January and August 2015 were divided into 1,279.9 MTD in foreign direct investment (FDI) and 342.7 MTD in portfolio investment.

Leading FDI, investments in the energy sector totaled 710 MTD, up 34.6% compared to the same period in 2014.

FDI in industry (346.8 MTD) have also increased 8.1% while investment in services dropped 0.6% to 214.1 MTD.

Investment in agriculture, rather modest, rose by 46.6% to 9.1 MTD.

FDI has increased by 19.7% over the past three years compared to 2014, 17.2% compared to 2013 and 16.8% compared to 2012.
