Tunisia: exports of frozen crab edge up 88%

Tunisia’s exports of frozen crabs edged up by 88% in value until March 2019, to 6.2 million dinars from 3.3 MD during the same period last year, said the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.

In volume, Tunisia’s exports of this product rose by 36%, from 520 tons in 2018 to 707.2 tons in 2019, according to the same source.

Tunisia exports crabs mainly to the Asian markets: South Korea (191.3 tons), Vietnam (8 tons), Thailand (3 tons), Taiwan (33 tons), Indonesia (37 tons) and Saudi Arabia (2 tons).

Other European countries also imported frozen crabs from Tunisia.

They are Italy (58.2 tons), Spain (14.6 tons), France (0.4 tons), United Kingdom (8.6 tons) and US and Canadian markets (11.4 tons).
